Sri Lanka, July 31 -- Sri Lanka has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting and promoting overseas investments, with Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath visiting the country's first-ever investment projects in the Philippines and encouraging more Sri Lankan businesses to explore opportunities in the Southeast Asian nation.

The Minister visited the PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental on July 25 during his tour of the Mindanao region, where he witnessed the progress of investment projects undertaken by Sri Lankan companies. The visit coincided with the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Philippines, a milestone that has also seen the launch of the first Sri Lankan investments in the country.
