Showers above 50 mm likely as strong winds affect several areas
Sri Lanka, June 11 -- The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces and in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, with fairly heavy falls above 50 mm likely at some places.
According to the Department, strong winds of 40-50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts. Other parts of the island may experience fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph.
