Sri Lanka, Sept. 16 -- Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, departed Sri Lanka for Singapore today (16) for medical treatment.

She had been summoned to appear before the Police Financial Crimes Investigation Division on September 24 to record a statement in connection with an ongoing financial investigation into the 'Siriliya Saviya' account.

Airport sources said she left the country from the Bandaranaike International Airport aboard Singapore Airlines flight SQ-469 bound for Singapore.

Shiranthi Rajapaksa had been admitted to a private hospital in Colombo yesterday (15) after reportedly falling ill and was subsequently taken to the airport from the hospital.
