Sri Lanka, May 19 -- The Department of Meteorology has issued a severe lightning advisory for Uva Province and the Batticaloa and Ampara districts today (19), valid until 11:30 p.m.

Red alerts have been issued for four districts and amber alerts for eight. Thundershowers with lightning and strong winds are expected after 2:00 p.m., and the public is urged to take precautions.
