Sri Lanka, April 22 -- The Meteorology Department yesterday issued a severe lightening warning for most parts of the country.

The department said thundershowers accompanied with severe lightning are likely to occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Northcentral, Southern, Uva Provinces, and in Mannar, Vavuniya, Ampara, Batticaloa districts after 1 p.m..

There may be temporary localised strong winds during thundershowers. The public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by lightning activity. Showers or thundershowers will occur at most places of the country after 1 p.m..
