SriLanka, Sept. 25 -- Sri Lanka's 4x400m mixed relay team finished fifth in their heat yesterday at the Asian Games in Japan, recording a time of 3:19.81.

The Sri Lankan quartet of Omel Shashintha, Sayuri Mendis, Sadew Rajakaruna and Jithma Wijethunga finished ninth overall, which was not enough to secure a place in the semi-finals.

In boxing, Sri Lanka's Nadeeka Pushpakumari lost 0-5 to China's Wu Yu in the preliminary round of the women's 51kg category. Lahiru Chandrabandara also bowed out after losing to Kyrgyzstan's Ikhtiar Nishonov in the men's 70kg category.

In weightlifting, Supun Somathileka failed to complete the men's 65kg event. He lifted 106kg in the snatch but was unable to register a successful lift in the clean and jerk....
