Sri Lanka, June 18 -- Several spells of showers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces today (18), according to the Department of Meteorology.

The Department said that showers will also occur in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may develop at several places in the Uva Province and in the Mullaitivu, Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 2.00 p.m.

The Department of Meteorology has urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimize possible damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers
