Sri Lanka, May 16 -- Ten passengers have been injured after a train travelling from Polgahawela to Kalutara South derailed between the Kelaniya and Wanawasala railway stations.

The injured passengers were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.

Police said one carriage of the derailed train overturned onto the railway track as a result of the incident.

Railway authorities were deployed to the site to clear the line and restore normal operations, while investigations into the derailment are underway.
