Sri Lanka, July 10 -- The Supreme Court has upheld a High Court ruling that former MP Wimal Weerawansa infringed the copyright of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva by reproducing Silva's unpublished writings in the book Neththa Venuwata Aththa without authorisation.

While affirming the High Court's award of Rs.1 million as statutory damages to Tilvin Silva, the Supreme Court partially allowed Weerawansa's challenge to the scope of the injunction.
