SC allows petition challenging Wijepala's eligibility to remain in Parliament
Sri Lanka, June 23 -- The Supreme Court yesterday granted special leave to appeal in a petition filed by Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) activist Renuka Dushyantha Perera challenging the Court of Appeal judgment that dismissed a writ petition questioning Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala's eligibility to remain in Parliament.
When the appeal application was taken up before a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justices Janak De Silva, Menaka Wijesundera and Sampath Wijeratne, the Court fixed the matter for argument on November 3.
