Sri Lanka, Feb. 25 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is currently interrogating retired Major General Suresh Sallay, the former head of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), under a 72-hour detention order.

Senior DIG in charge of the Western Province, Sajeewa Medawatte, confirmed that the arrest was made following the emergence of new evidence related to the 2019 Easter Sunday Attacks.

Speaking at a special media briefing at the Police Media Division, SDIG Medawatte emphasized that a comprehensive and lengthy investigation is underway.
