Sajith raps government over unfulfilled promises.
Sri Lanka, May 22 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa accused the government stating that it has deceived the entire country with lies and fraud by not fulfilling the promises made during the election period.
Addressing the House during the debate on the Central Bank's Economic Review Report for 2025 yesterday, Premadasa said that he is surprised by the facts presented by the government at a time when the country's economy is being discussed in Parliament and that the current government has taken steps to orphan 7.5 million electricity consumers by promising to reduce the electricity bill of Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 6,000 and the electricity bill of Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 2,000 by 33%.
