SriLanka, Sept. 28 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa has stressed the critical need for a successor agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that active targets poverty eradication, boosts exports, and provides relief to Sri Lanka's citizens.

Delivering a special statement yesterday, Premadasa addressed recent remarks by Minister Bimal Rathnayake, who indicated that the government plans to exit the IMF programme once the current Extended Fund Facility (EFF) concludes in March 2027.
