Sri Lanka, April 25 -- The Sagarika Express train operating from Beliatta to Maradana derailed yesterday morning between North Kalutara and Wadduwa Railway Stations, blocking both tracks and causing significant damage to the line.

As a result, train services on the Coastal Railway Line were completely disrupted, causing severe inconveniences for daily commuters travelling to Colombo for work.

Accordingly, trains from Maradana were running only up to Panadura and services from the South (Beliatta and Galle) restricted to South Kalutara. Sri Lanka Railways General Manager Ravindra Padmapriya said efforts are underway to clear the obstruction caused by the derailment of the "Sagarika" train.South Asians & Diaspora
