Sri Lanka, Aug. 27 -- Authorities in Nuwara Eliya have asked for steps to be taken to ensure boat services on Lake Gregory are operated safely.

The instruction was triggered because of the high number of accidents arising from certain boat services currently operating on the lake.

At the Nuwara Eliya District Coordination Committee (DCC) meeting on August 25, its Chairman and Nuwara Eliya District MP Manjula Suraweerarachchi instructed Nuwara Eliya Municipal Commissioner Ishan Wijeyathilaka to take the necessary steps to ensure boat services are operated in a proper manner in two months.
