Rumesh Tharanga clinches javelin gold at Lausanne Diamond League.
SriLanka, Aug. 22 -- Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga secured first place in the men's javelin throw event at the 2026 Lausanne Diamond League athletics meeting, held in the early hours of today, with a winning performance of 88.14 metres.
Former world champion and Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra of India took second place with a throw of 88.05 metres, while former world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada claimed third.
This was Tharanga's third Diamond League meet of the season. He had previously won the javelin title at the Rome Diamond League with a performance of 92.62 metres, and went on to win first place again at the Doha Diamond League.
