Sri Lanka, June 27 -- Vraie Cally Balthazaar says around Rs. 36 billion has been invested to modernise and expand Colombo's sewerage network under the Greater Colombo Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Programme.

In a post shared on social media, the Colombo Mayor said the programme was initially financed by the Asian Development Bank and is currently supported by the Treasury and the European Investment Bank.

Key initiatives under the programme include the Rs. 8 billion Kirula and Narahenpita Sewerage Project, aimed at extending sewer connections to areas that previously lacked access, and the Rs. 7.5 billion Southern Rehabilitation Project, which focuses on upgrading and restoring ageing sewer infrastructure across several ...
