Rs. 2 Mn worth copper parts removed from lightning conductor at Kandy National Hospital
Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has initiated an investigation into the periodic theft of nearly 500 feet of copper parts from the lightning conductor at the Hanthana Tilak Abeysekara Kidney Treatment Unit, which belongs to the Kandy National Hospital.
Kandy National Hospital Deputy Health Director General Dr. Nihal Weerasuriya stated that the Health Ministry has also launched an inquiry into the incident.
It is reported that the copper wires of this lightning conductor had been detached periodically over several months, with the total value of the stolen copper currently estimated at around Rs. 2 million.
