Sri Lanka, June 3 -- The Government on Monday approved a urban development programme worth over Rs.1.4 billion aimed at strengthening city branding initiatives and accelerating priority infrastructure projects across several cities in Sri Lanka, Cabinet Spokesman, Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said.

Speaking at the weekly Cabinet media briefing yesterday (2), the Minister said the programme is funded through allocations made under the 2026 Budget to promote a more structured, data-driven, and prioritised approach to urban development.
