Rs. 1 Mn compensation for four patients in 2023 eye surgery mishap
Sri Lanka, July 8 -- The Government has granted approval to provide compensation of Rs. 1 million each to four additional patients who lost their vision following the use of Prednisolone Acetate ophthalmic suspension after undergoing eye surgery, extending compensation previously awarded to affected patients. Several patients who underwent eye surgery at the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital reportedly suffered permanent vision loss or severe deterioration of their eyesight after being treated with Prednisolone Acetate ophthalmic suspension between March 3 and May 16, 2023.
