Sri Lanka, April 3 -- Sri Lanka is facing an escalating water crisis due to the prevailing dry and hot weather conditions, prompting the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) to implement a comprehensive water management plan, NWSDB Chairman Chandana Bandara said.

Speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (2) at the Department of Government Information, Bandara explained that water consumption has surged due to the dry spell, increasing the risk of shortages in the coming weeks. He noted that the Meteorology Department forecasts reduced rainfall ahead, which could further strain supplies, especially with the upcoming festive season expected to drive up demand.Beaches & Islands
