Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- Construction work is to be accelerated on the North Central Province Canal project - 3 (17.6 km), North Central Provincial Canal project - 4 (13.7 km), North Central Province Canal - 5A (9.9 km), North Central Province Canal project - 5B (19.4 km) and the balance work on the Upper Elahera canal.

It follows the successful completion last July of the excavation of the 27.7 kilometre irrigation conveyance tunnel under the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Program - Stage 02.
