SriLanka, Sept. 9 -- Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Ambassador Sumith Dassanayake, told the 63rd Session of the UN Human Rights Council yesterday (8) that the country has made significant progress on human rights, reconciliation and accountability through nationally owned processes, while clearly rejecting Resolution 60/1 and its external evidence - gathering mechanism.

Dassanayake was responding to a written update on the human rights situation in Sri Lanka presented by UN Human Rights Deputy High Commissioner Awa Dabo.
