Sri Lanka, July 27 -- Any proposal to extend the tenure of Supreme Court judges should be decided by the people through a referendum, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser, MP Namal Rajapaksa said.

Addressing a public gathering, Rajapaksa claimed the Government had lost the people's trust by failing to fulfil its election promises and by imposing an unfair tax burden amid the rising cost of living.

He alleged that farmers, fishermen, students, businesses and investors were struggling due to fertiliser shortages, increasing food prices, high taxes and rising utility costs.
