Red alert from health authorities for kite-flyers
Sri Lanka, Aug. 18 -- Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children Acting Director, Consultant Specialist Dr. Pradeep Ratnasekera, warned the public that careless practices, particularly flying kites near high-voltage power lines or from elevated rooftops, have led to severe falls and catastrophic electrical burns requiring surgical amputations. He urged parents and guardians to supervise children closely to prevent life-threatening mishaps.
Issuing a public notice, he highlighted that although kite flying is an enjoyable activity, engaging in it carelessly and without safety precautions can lead to severe injuries and, in some cases, life-threatening situations for children and adults alike.
