Rakitha, Charith get bail, travel ban in bribe case
Sri Lanka, July 29 -- Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama yesterday (28) ordered the release on bail of Rakitha Rajapaksha, Aruna Varuna Hannadige, and Samagi Jana Balawegaya Horana Organiser Charith Abeysinghe, three suspects who were in remanded in connection with allegedly soliciting a bribe from the wife of organised criminal Nadun Chinthaka, alias "Harak Kata."
The Magistrate granted bail under two personal bails of Rs.5 million each and a cash bail of Rs.100,000 per suspect, while also imposing a foreign travel ban.
Although bail was granted to Charitha Abeysinghe, the magistrate ordered yesterday evening that he be remanded once again as he was unable to fulfil the required bail conditions. Granting bail in the morning,...
