Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- Restoration of the railway line between Kandy and Kotagala, which was damaged by Cyclone Ditwah, has reached its final stage.

Officials involved in the railway track rehabilitation work said the track, which was severely damaged by landslides, is currently being repaired and prepared for the resumption of train services.

Restoration of the track reached its final stage despite the adverse weather in the past hampering work Officials said authorities are planning to complete rehabilitation work in this area by next month.

Currently, limited train services are operating on the upcountry railway line between Nanu Oya and Badulla.
