Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- The Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) will be abolished and replaced with the Protection of the State from Terrorism Bill (PSTB), Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced.

Addressing the Cabinet Press briefing yesterday (6), Dr. Jayatissa emphasised that the country still requires a robust Legal framework to safeguard the nation and prevent terrorist threats. "We hope no one in the country will oppose having a Law to protect the nation from terrorism," he stated, acknowledging that, while some argue a country can function without such Laws, others advocate for even tougher Legislation.
