Sri Lanka, June 23 -- Under the instructions of Minister Dr. Upali Pannila, the Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment Ministry has announced a series of programmes to control the rapidly spreading dengue disease across the country.

Under this initiative, all Community Development Councils (CDCs) in the country were convened prior to June 20 to educate communities on the current risk of dengue and to formulate prevention plans at the Grama Niladhari Division level. Community Empowerment Officers took steps to obtain the necessary data for this from Divisional Secretariats and Medical Officer of Health (MOH) offices.
