Probe into US$ 2.5 Mn cyber theft under way
Sri Lanka, July 22 -- Labour Minister and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando yesterday told Parliament that as comprehensive investigations are underway into the US$ 2.5 million cyber theft at the Treasury, many details cannot be revealed.
He added that no one can be accused at this stage and no one can be named as responsible since it is a cyber fraud.
Responding to questions raised by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa under Standing Order 27/2 during the session held in Parliament yesterday (21), he said that the incident cannot be said to be a shortcoming of the Public Debt Management Office.
