Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- Expressways generated a total revenue of over Rs. 306.5 million in the four-day period from the long weekend to the early hours of Saturday which also coincided with the school vacation.

The Road Development Authority Director General Anuradha Hettiarachchi said a large number of people used the expressways for their travel due to the long weekend, with 77,282 vehicles traveling during those few days.

The highest volume of traffic was recorded on the Southern Expressway on August 25 and 26, generating Rs. 76.7 million in revenue over those two days.

The Colombo - Katunayake Expressway on these days had earned Rs. 34.8 million in revenue and the Central Expressway Rs. 12.9 million.Download Travel Guides
