Sri Lanka, March 24 -- The special ward at Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, previously reserved exclusively for the Executive President, has been opened to the public from today (24) to provide medical treatment to general patients.South Asians & Diaspora
This decision was jointly made by the Ministry of Health and the hospital administration, following instructions from President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Constructed in 1984 with a grant from the Government of Japan, Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital originally had a capacity of 1,000 beds. The hospital also included a special unit, Room No. 1001, designed exclusively for the personal use of the Executive President.
