Sri Lanka, May 5 -- A police constable attached to the Peliyagoda Police Headquarters has been taken into custody by officers from the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption over claims that he solicited and accepted a bribe amounting to Rs. 200,000.

According to reports, the money had been demanded in return for releasing a suspect who had been arrested on April 19 by the Peliyagoda Police Anti-Vice Unit for possession of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as "Ice," without initiating legal proceedings.
