Sri Lanka, June 29 -- Five Sri Lankan passengers who tried to smuggle a stock of Hashish and Kush out of the Katunayake Airport were arrested by officers of the Airport Police Narcotic Bureau early yesterday, June 28, morning.

The narcotics are valued at Rs. 72.2 million.

The five suspects, one woman and four men who arrived at the Katunayake airport on a plane from Bangkok in Thailand, are residents of the Kegalle area and are in their 30's.

The suspects had packed 6 kg 110 g of Hashish and 11 kg 062 g of Kush inside 15 glass bottles which had been put inside polythene bags that had the name Sri Lanka Duty-Free Shopping printed on them.

The arrested passengers are scheduled to be produced before the Negombo Magistrate.
