Sri Lanka, May 27 -- The Prime Minister's Media Division has warned the public about the circulation of fake news on social media created using the name, photographs, and video footage of Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.

According to the statement, certain groups have been sharing manipulated videos and fabricated social media posts that falsely depict the Prime Minister expressing specific views. These materials have reportedly been produced using artificial intelligence and other digital editing tools, along with the unauthorized use of official media logos.

The false content is said to be promoting misleading information on business opportunities, employment, as well as issues related to the country's economy and tax policies.
