Sri Lanka, July 8 -- The Cabinet of Ministers on Monday (6) approved a pilot project to introduce Bus Sector Clustering on selected bus corridors in a bid to improve the efficiency, safety and quality of Sri Lanka's public bus transport system.
The proposal, submitted by the Transport, Highways and Urban Development Minister seeks to address longstanding issues in the sector, including intense competition among operators, poor adherence to timetables, traffic congestion, unsafe driving practices and inconvenience to passengers.
