Sri Lanka, Aug. 3 -- Taking into account the latest information regarding the presence of leopards within the Peradeniya University premises, the university's management has instructed the academic staff, non-academic staff, and students to remain highly vigilant and exercise caution at all times.
This notification was issued following an incident recently where a calf was killed in a leopard attack at the farm of the Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science Faculty.
The university's administration stated that leopards living in the adjacent Hanthana Forest Reserve occasionally enter the university premises, a fact confirmed by recurring attacks on animals near the cattle sheds of the Veterinary Faculty.
