Sri Lanka, Aug. 5 -- Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananda Wijepala informed Parliament that the Government is paying attention to the possibility of granting another one year's service extension to police officers with good conduct who have completed the age of 60.
The Minister made this statement in Parliament yesterday (04), responding to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara regarding the large number of existing vacancies in the Police Department.
The Minister stated that 10,000 members of the Civil Defence Department have been assigned to the police service, of which 6,000 have already assumed duties.
