Sri Lanka, July 13 -- Authorities have identified around 75 inmates allegedly involved in the killing of eight prison officers during the recent violence at Negombo Prison, with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) stating that additional suspects are still being identified.

Investigators said all those found responsible will face murder charges. The CID has also recovered a number of weapons believed to have been used in the attacks and has identified suspects through CCTV footage obtained from within the prison.

Police said the recovered weapons include knives, machetes, scissors, metal spikes and wooden clubs. While some of the items were taken from the prison kitchen, investigators believe many others had been improvised by i...
