Sri Lanka, June 29 -- Four suspects with more than 5,000 kilograms of meat were arrested by the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Force when they raided an illegal slaughterhouse operating secretly in the Mahabage area.

During the operation on June 28 they successfully rescued a buffalo that was to be slaughtered.

According to police, when officers surrounded the location 13 buffaloes and a calf had already been slaughtered. The rescued buffalo was found among them.

After removing the bones and unusable parts of the slaughtered animals, the remaining meat fit for sale which weighed over 5,000 kilograms was taken into police custody. Investigations revealed this stock of meat was being prepared for distribution to shops in Colombo and surr...
