Sri Lanka, May 2 -- Former Minister Patali Champaka Ranawaka joined the commemoration of former Labour leader A. E. Goonesinha at his statue while Alliance of Independent Trade Unions and Mass Organisations started their May Day rally from the Lake House roundabout yesterday morning.

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) held a commemorative meeting at the statue of former Labour Minister T. B. Ilangaratne at his statue at the Rotunda Roundabout. The Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) also conducted its rally at Hyde Park in Kompannavidiya.Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa yesterday participated in the 33rd death anniversary of former President Ranasinghe Premadasa with former First Lady Hema Premadasa.
