Sri Lanka, Nov. 7 -- Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa accused the government for improper interference caused through applying pressure by the Executive in the Legislature to alter the terms of the no-confidence motion (NCM) brought by the Opposition against Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne in Parliament.

Premadasa said that the Opposition had been informed that the NCM against the Speaker would be taken up for debate only if certain clauses were amended and pointed out that such a move is unconstitutional and emphasized that that the Opposition has the right to submit a no-confidence motion and determine its contents, while the government has no authority to interfere with the matters included in it.
