Sri Lanka, Sept. 11 -- Opposition members of the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council attended yesterday's (10) monthly Council meeting wearing black bands in protest against a proposal to hand over the Municipal Council's long-standing Water Supply Unit to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board.

The monthly meeting commenced at 10.30 am at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council chamber. Opposition members strongly objected to the proposed transfer, pointing out that the Water Supply Unit has been an important revenue-generating asset of the Municipal Council for many years.
