Sri Lanka, March 16 -- Teaching children who are aged 3 to 5 years online through Zoom is contrary to educational psychology and child development principles the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs said.
A statement by the Ministry said online seminars organised for commercial purposes do not improve a child's education standards but hinder their natural development instead.
According to educational psychology, the learning of a child aged 3-5 years should be in an activity-based environment with social interaction. 'Learning by watching a screen hinders the development of the child's social skills and reduces the ability to maintain attention. It hinders creative thinking', the Ministry said.
