Sri Lanka, April 30 -- Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva yesterday announced that the party, under the National People's Power (NPP) banner, has organised 21 massive May Day rallies across 21 Districts nationwide.
He also highlighted this as a historic moment, noting that it is the first time in Sri Lanka's May Day history that a political movement will hold such widespread, decentralised rallies.
Instead of a single central rally, the NPP (led by the JVP) aimed to demonstrate strength across the entire country, specifically bringing together youth, women, and progressive forces.
Rallies will be focused on consolidating public support to build a "new society" and overcoming the "76-year-old system".
