Sri Lanka, Sept. 8 -- A 19-year-old girl who went missing in the Sungawila Reserve along the Somawathiya Chaitya Road was found safe near Thambala Wewa after two days, the Pulastigama Police said.

A major search operation involving the Police, Wildlife officials and residents was launched to locate the girl, who had become lost in the dense jungle where wild elephants and other animals roam.

The girl, a resident of Monaratenna in Welikanda, had travelled by motorcycle with a male acquaintance recently. They stopped the motorcycle near the Sungawila Reserve and entered the jungle.

While inside the jungle, the two became separated and the girl subsequently went missing. The young man searched for her but failed to locate her.
