SriLanka, June 20 -- The Finance Ministry on Thursday issued an Extraordinary Gazette Notification under the hands of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Finance and Planning Minister stipulating new administrative regulations on imports related payments which will come into effect from yesterday.

The introduction of new set of regulations is aimed at strengthening the effective monitoring and oversight of outward remittances made from Sri Lanka in respect of import transactions.

Through this Extraordinary Gazette Notification, banks are required to assign a special transaction number for every import-related payment and report detailed transaction information to Sri Lanka Customs.
