SriLanka, Sept. 9 -- Nepal has demanded £15 million in Climate compensation from "polluting economies" for last month's devastating flood.

At least 1,399 people have been confirmed dead and more than 5,500 remain missing on the 12th day of rescue operations.

Shisir Khanal, Nepal's foreign minister, said the country had requested Climate compensation from the UN. The money will come from the UN's Fund for responding to loss and damage, set up in 2022 in line with the Paris Climate Agreement.

"We have contributed so little to Climate Change," Mr Khanal told The Guardian.
