Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- The No-Confidence Motion (NCM) brought by the Opposition against Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne was handed over to Parliament Secretary General Kushani Rohanadeera on Friday (9).

The signing of this motion was held on Thursday (8) at the Opposition Leader's Office in Parliament and 44 Parliamentarians representing the Opposition parties in the House have signed the NCM.

This No-Confidence Motion has been drafted based on 50 allegations against the Speaker concerning his conduct in handling parliamentary proceedings.

The NCM alleges that the Speaker is unfit for the position due to the partisan and undemocratic conduct he displayed while managing parliamentary proceedings. The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has also...
