Sri Lanka, May 13 -- The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a landslide early warning for several districts due to the prevailing heavy rainfall across the island.

The NBRO warned that the risk of landslides, rockfalls and ground subsidence has increased significantly and advised residents in hilly and landslide-prone areas to remain highly vigilant regarding pre-landslide warning signs.

Residents have been urged to follow safety measures, including clearing drainage systems around homes to ensure the free flow of rainwater and removing heavy trees or hazardous objects located above houses.
